Nigerians are making money online. It’s easy and straightforward, if you’re willing to put in the work.
And I do understand that many have tried to make money online and have failed. They thereafter turned to the believe that it’s impossible. Well, it is very much possible and even easier today. The only thing that differentiate those that failed and those that succeeded (and still succeeding) is the work; they (the successful ones) show up every day and put in the work.
They understand that hard work, diligence and patience are the keys to succeeding in anything and you, too, have to keep that at the back of your mind. So get your mind ready and read on, you’ll learn about five (5) ways you can make money—legit money—online.
Each of the methods discussed in this post deserve an entire post of its own giving detailed and in-depth information. In lieu of that, this post aims to give you an overview of some of the ways available to you.
Are you ready?
You only need three things:
Your readiness, your computer and internet access—could be data, WiFi, or anything else that can get you on the INTERNET. You already have two – data and device, your hard work is what you have to bring to fore now.
How to Make Money Online in Nigeria
If you have ever made money for yourself rendering service to people, trust me you’ve been freelancing.
If you’re a photographer who is on his/her own and not working for any company, you’ve been a freelance photographer. All these while, you’ve been a freelancer and that’s all to it.
The ONLY difference this time is that you’re bringing your service online before an international audience; an audience of Nigerians, Brits, Americans, Indians and so on.
There are a lot of freelancing sites out there, but the friendly ones are Fiverr, Upwork, People per hour, etc.
Learn the ropes—how each platform works, the payment methods (very important), how to market yourself, negotiation, sales and everything else in between. With commitment, you’re on your way to financial freedom.

2. Affiliate Marketing
This is another way of making money on the online. You get paid by getting people to buy products of other people.
If you’ve ever been to Alaba or Aba or any big market at that, you’ll see some guys who do not have shops of their own, but help those who do get customers. These people would approach people that enter the market, ask them what they want to buy and take them to shops/stores they can get those things. By doing that, they get paid by the shop owners; that’s what affiliate marketing can be likened to.
You’ll register on a marketplace or website offering affiliate commissions on their product, they give you a link that is unique to only you and when you get people to buy their product or service through that link, a sale is recorded in your name and they pay you for every successful sale. It’s that easy.
The only thing you have to do is get people to buy the product or service; the delivery, customer service and everything else is for the seller to handle.
3. Information Marketing
As the name suggests, information marketing is the gathering, packaging and, most importantly, selling of information.
If you have a top secret or even what seems like an obvious knowledge, you can package it in various forms and put it out for people to buy. That information you think is open to all is actually alien to far more people than you can ever imagine. And that explains why people still buy books that teach pickup artistry, videos that teach a kind of recipe, and pretty much anything you can think of.
Take it from me, information is all over the internet but where an information marketer comes in is the packaging; people need someone to help them gather all of the information they need in one place, and there’s where you can make your own fortune.
This is yet another way to make money on the internet and it’s similar to information marketing in some way. If you have a specialized knowledge about a particular subject, you can teach people how to do it. This one, I must say, requires some high level of expertise.
You could teach, coach or mentor people on practically and literally anything. It could even be something as mundane as how to make money online. Relationship too is there. Practically anything is there for the taking.

This is an interesting one. Very interesting. Interesting because you do not need to have any skill whatsoever to do this. An arbitrageur, in the online world, can be likened to a middleman. Arbitrage, simply put, is the direct profiting from price differences of products or services between two markets.
That’s a bit confusing, I know.
In simpler terms, it’s the process of buying from a cheaper market and selling in an expensive one.
Here’s how to do it online: set up a freelance profile in any platform of your choice, take gigs and give it to someone else at a price cheaper than your own rates. Let’s say you take a gig of $50, as an arbitrager, you benefit by giving it to somebody else to do at, say, $30. That’s a whopping $20 for you without doing anything!
6. Host Reselling
In Host Reselling, people buy host packages and then sell to other people, hence the name “reselling.”
It is reselling because these people only buy administrator packages while the hosting company handles a large chunk of the technical details.
It is best for web developers, who know their client’s needs and can customize a hosting package for them. That notwithstanding, anybody can invest in host reselling.
The good thing about this is that you can brand the hosting reselling business in your name. How superb that is!
Take it from me, blogging is the grandmaster. The mother of all online money-making models!
Every single model discussed earlier in this post can be undertaken via a blog! You can get your business in front of your target audience via a blog.
If you’re a freelance graphics designer or web developer, an affiliate or information marketer, a coach or consultant, a blog can be your office or warehouse. In fact, you need it.
With a blog, you can put out information about your business, drive traffic and make your money low-key. On top of whatever business model you chose, you can still make money from your blog via other means – it’s that versatile.
In fact, blogging is the be-all and end-all of making money online.
There are a lot of ways available to make money online, seven (7) of which are discussed above. Anybody can do it. You only need to search for information and be ready to put in the necessary work and you’ll thrive in no time.
Which one of these ways are you going to try? Share your answers and questions in the comments.
